I can’t work out whether this chap is actually like this, or putting it on. Nor can I work out whether I find it funny or unsettling. Cool burger though.

new-vegetarian:

Well, since a lot of my family is coming over today for mother’s day, they are grilling burgers and hot dogs.  Since I am a newly found vegetarian, I wanted to make black bean burgers instead.
Let me tell you, I tasted them raw to make sure they were good and OH MY GOD it was fantastic! I cannot wait until they are cooked on the grill! (separate from the meat, of course)
But here are the ingredients!
2 (15 oz) cans of black beans; drained and dried- MAKE SURE THEY ARE DRRRRRY
a big clove of garlic; or a few small cloves, depending on the size and how much you like garlic
half a small onion
pinch of chili powder
about a cup or so of breadcrumbs; I used flavored breadcrumbs
a hint of paprika for added color and flavor
1 egg
1. Drain beans, dry them very well so they hold together better!
mash these beans like you mean it
2. In a food processor, mince onions and garlic to be somewhat fine, but not too fine
mix into mashed beans thoroughly
3. Toss in the egg and mix well again
4. Put in the pinch of paprika and chili powder
5. Throw in breadcrumbs until it’s nice and thick and together
6. Finally, make into patties and put in the fridge to firm up a bit
For grilling, put on lightly oiled foil and grill for about 8 minutes or so on each side
For the oven, preheat to 350F and heat for about 10 minutes on each side

Still having burger cravings, despite the tofu one I made for dinner yesterday :(
